University of Queensland introduce controversial exam proctoring software
Medical students at the University of Queensland object to the introduction of invasive and inconsistent proctoring software to monitor students taking exams remotely.
The software must be downloaded on student's personal computers, it performs a biometric check using facial recognition to compare the student to an ID, and then monitors the student with camera footage, microphone recording, screen recording, and the student's keystrokes.
The implementation has been plagued with issues that have made life difficult for people trying to take their exams, and the student union has objected to ProctorU being allowed to "store and commodify their personal data".
