Philippines uses face recognition for teacher tracking
Three ICT systems have been launched in the Philippines: the Teachers Biometric Time and Attendance System, Smart Teachers ID Card and the Smart Interactive Board for Teaching and Learning System.
The Teachers Biometric Time and Attendance System uses facial recognition at schools, while the Smart Teachers ID Card contains information about any individual teacher, linked with a QR code.
Data is provided to the Department of Education in real time.
“We have invented the biometric time and attendance system in schools for real time tracking of teacher’s attendance and punctuality and will conjoin with the student’s identification program that is yet to be launched,” said Minister for Education Lucas Dekena.
