Texas school builds $600,000 surveillance system
The Texas City school district is using a facial recognition system to scan for people not allowed on school grounds.
The security measures, cost $6.3 million in eight months to protect from potential school shooters. The ID system itself cost $621,000.
It means the school has a digital map showing the locations of around 9000 students throughout the school.
“My philosophy is you fight fire with fire,” said former U.S. Secret Service agent Mike Matranga, who is now head of security for the district.
