Barbers Hill school district uses facial recognition technology
Barbers Hill school district in Texas is using facial recognition technology from AnyVision on 32 entryways throughout the district.
The software uses AI to detect, track and recognise people in a mass crowd in real-time, and can notifying safety personnel immediately. The software costs $131,000.
The system allows for searching backward in a timeline, a watch list, different alerts, the ability to create groups, face-blurring mode, privacy mode and camera management.
It claims accuracy of up to 99% because it uses biometrics and bone structure.
The program also creates a database with past and current students, staff members and people of interest - including sex offenders, protective orders, suspended students, expelled students, those that make terroristic threats, and others.
