French Data Protection Authority comes out against facial recognition experiment
The French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) have decided that an experiment in which facial recognition was installed in two high schools in Nice and Marseille.
The CNIL decided that the implementation didn't comply with the GDPR principles of proportionality or data minimisation, and ultimately concluded that facial recognition systems cannot be legally implemented in schools.
